POM Research was founded in 2021 by Faiz Jan and Kirsten Kelly, initially as a firm intended to advocate for mental health action following research jointly conducted by the Rideau Students’ Union and the Ontario Student Trustees Association. Since then, POM has expanded its work to study and advocate for policies on various subjects of interest with the goal of improving the lives of Ontarians. We hope to provide a platform to creative, curious and policy-enthusiastic students to push for a better world.
During this time, the organization conducted many research initiatives, including into the topics of mental healthcare, affordable housing, criminal activity, and more. The organization was also one of the primary organizers of the Equal Access Initiative.
In March 2023, an agreement was made for the RSU to pursue acquisition of Peace of Mind's resources, intellectual property, and name.
